Hi, I’m Lukas!
Though I’ve made entire games as a solo dev and at my company Absurdity Interactive for ten years now, I am a Game Designer, Writer and once in a blue moon; a Narrative Designer. As a Narrative Designer, I am convicted that a strong foundation in the Liberal Arts, mainly literature, history and philosophy, all of which are reflected in my work.
I’m currently studying psychology with an eye towards working to develop and research so-called “serious games” (games created for reasons other than just entertainment) and video games as therapy. Although academic study of the impact of video games and mental health arguably stretch back to the 1980s, the study of video games as an effective form of therapy is still relatively new, newer still is attempts to systematically categorize and create theoretical frameworks to understand the impact these games have on their players.
By developing as both a psychologist and a game developer, I hope to be able to use my dual competency to make games better and to make research into games better.
Below is a showcase and analysis of some of my notable works. Click on any work to read more. Feel free to get in touch with questions or to talk about my work!
